2015 Urgency around Permanency: National Best Practices Summit

...to find permanent families for vulnerable Canadian children and youth with (dis)Abilities

November 4 & 5, 2015   Ottawa, ON

The Adoption Council of Canada (ACC) cordially invites you to join us at the Urgency around Permanency Summit: Exploring Best Practices.  We need your unique perspective as we discuss why tens of thousands of children and youth remain in foster and group care across Canada, and what we can do to ensure they do not age out of care into homelessness, without permanent families.

This year, due to popular demand, the Summit is a two-day event on Wednesday, November 4th and Thursday, November 5th, 2015.  Our second Summit will once again bring together Canada's child welfare community.  We are inviting you to share your best practices that have resulted in finding permanent families (including kinship care, customary care, legal guardianship, and adoption) for all our children and youth.

Peer presentations will highlight initiatives that work in securing life-long, permanent connections for children and youth in government care, particularly those with visible and invisible disabilities.

Our full agenda is now available.

Prominent Speakers

Keynote: The Honourable Bob Rae Ontario's 21st Premier and former interim leader, Liberal Party of Canada. A lawyer, mediator, author and speaker, Bob is focusing on Aboriginal and governance issues.
