Financial Accounting
The Adoption Council of Canada (ACC) is a registered not-for-profit organization. Our charitable number, issued by the Canada Revenue Agency, is 13803 1596 RR0001.
As a largely voluntary organization, the ACC depends on support from individual donors, members, and community organizations. This support makes up 24 percent of our funding. About 52 percent of our funding comes from corporate donations, largely from Jockey International. A small percentage – 11 percent – comes from the Government of Alberta, to help us run Canada’s Waiting Children, a national photolisting service that matches children waiting in foster care with potential adoptive families. Our remaining income comes from contributions from an affiliated organization and miscellaneous sources. Periodically, we receive grants from foundations or other charitable entities. Our yearly statements are audited and available upon request.
